Hi, I'm Mark Middleton. I design and build handcrafted furniture. When I was growing up in West Texas, "fun" was making something from wood salvaged from empty fruit and vegetable crates, carted home from the nearby grocery store. These days "fun" is making fine furniture from choice hardwoods obtained from a local supplier. It's a little more expensive but the boards are bigger and better now. I'm particularly fond of Craftsman or Mission Style furniture. The architectural forms found there particularly appeal to me. I also make Santa Fe style furniture.
Experience has taught me that working primarily in red oak or cherry for Craftsman pieces, exotics for smaller projects, and ponderosa or sugar pine for a Santa Fe Style piece guarantees the best results.
